Instructional rubrics that analyze a student's conceptual knowledge, procedural knowledge, and communication skills are included. The assessments are a free resource to educators, parents, and students. Tasks grouped by grade level that address the concepts of main idea, summarization, characterization, plot understanding, text comparisons and connections, and inferential thinking are available on both the public and administrator sites.
Smart Teaching TAKS Materials Smart Teaching: Dallas County schools and its partner school districts (Carrollton-Farmers Branch, Garland, Highland Park, and Richardson) have developed these materials to assist you in better understanding the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) test. The team has analyzed every question on the 2003, 2004, and 2006 released tests so that you can easily see:
- Detailed analysis of every TAKS item
- Why correct answers are correct?
- What kinds of distracters/incorrect answers were used? How did students think/compute that caused them to answer incorrectly?
- What information will help teachers focus their instruction more specifically?
